Cold Night

I have always been a good story starter, but can't seem to finish anything.
A friend and I challenged each other to write something new, here is the beginning of mine.

She'd seen it before, in a dream, The rain poured in sheets outside. The sky was as dark as a moonless night. Madi paid extra careful attention as she drove down the county line dirt road. Her headlights reflected brightly off the mirror-like rain. It had been a long time since it rained like this in Central Texas.
Two months before Madi had awoke in the middle of the night in a cold sweat. The dream she'd had chilled her to the bone. The last thing she could recall was sliding off a flooded muddy road and rolling to a stop in the middle of a grassy field. That alone wouldn't have frightened Madi, so there must have been something else. Something so frightening that she'd blocked it from her concious mind.
Now as she drove, the last few moments of her dream seemed to be realized. But she continued to drive, feeling foolish for thinking she was some sort of psychic. Madi Stephens, the fortune teller. The thought made her laugh.

Whispers

Whispers of you,
reminders of what could be.
You haunt my mind and
seduce my imagination.
Though you haven't realized,
your words evoked a passion deep within.
Now eager to feel your hot breath on my neck or
your burning touch that would set my flesh on fire.
Your pensive stare pierces my innermost thoughts
as though you can clearly read my mind.
Do you like what you see?

You Saw Me

I thought I had you fooled...
hiding behind all my masks of different emotions
you were just another heartache waiting to happen
but you saw the me I was trying so hard to hide
and everytime I peel away the masks
with my soul naked before you,
and my heart so exposed
I pray with all my might that it won't be shattered again.

The Window

I see you there,
untouchable
with your guarded heart.
Letting me look through
the window of your world
but I can't hear through the pain.
What is the meaning of these words you write?
Who is this person who tore you apart,
and drove you into your house of glass.
Oh, to be able to equip you with the rock
that would allow you to break down your walls.
But I can't even get close to you.

Untitled

I feel myself splitting in two,
I watch myself walk away.
I am being pulled toward
something I can't control.
I can only stand and
watch myself fall.
The earth opens and
swallows me.
I am out of reach!
I wonder if I will drown.
"Someone help me!"
No one hears my muffled cries.
My voice is mute.
I take a quick breath and
surrender. I'm drowning!
Something forces me
back to the surface.
I grab hold, pull myself together,
walk away and never look back.

Long Ago

On this paper lies my words black as the night above.
Twisted and mangled with despair and sadness, void of love.
On this paper lies my soul searching for tomorrow.
Looking for a place of dreams to help me escape this sorrow.
Reality creeps in like a serpent looking for its prey.
And coils its slithery body around my dreams...to kill away.
What is life in this negative world full of extinct dreams.
Reality makes you insane in this cold cruel world it seems.
When imagination dies and fantasy fades away.
You no longer wanna live for tomorrow you'll dwell on yesterday.

Burned

The fire unside my heart angrily rages
consuming every last feeling of what I thought
was love for you until
all that's left
of my broken heart is
embers and ash...

what will become
of this heart not too soon
forgotten and what will become of me?
To be reborn of the ash
like a phoenix ressurected
or die to leave me utterly
alone...
