Like sands through the hour glass.... just kidding! By popular demand, here's more that I've written of Sail Away. I don't know if I'll stick to that title or not. Also I am continuously editing it, so if it shows up in print, it will be better. Love to all my fans! LOL! No really. Ha ha. ~D


October 2007

Rutherford High was playing their biggest rival, Livington. Everyone at school was hyped for the big game. Heading to the gym, Jason saw a couple of boys horsing around in the hall. He thought a teacher would probably be along soon to calm them down. The gym was packed! Everyone was shoulder to shoulder. Jason thought to himself that if one of these kids fell it would trigger the domino effect. The band was in full glory. The cheerleaders were ever spirited. And even a few of the known potheads were there. This was the pep rally of the year. Forget about homecoming, if they won tonight, victory would be sweet. Right in the middle of the excitement, the kid in front of him stumbled back. This in turn caused Jason to flail backwards. He caught some guy’s arm and a small riot erupted. By the time it was all said and done Jason was being taken away in handcuffs.

Sally and Bob Walker thought the police must’ve been crazy to take their grandson to jail. Jason was a good boy, despite his problems with his mother. Kayla sporadically popped in and out of Jason’s life, and when she did, it always left lasting scars. Jason dealt with the disappointment rather well. Now with their grandson in jail, they hired the best lawyer they could afford.

Roberta Davis had a good standing in the law community. She had won her fair share of small criminal cases. This one was to be no exception. Her client, Jason Walker was a 15 year old boy accused of stabbing a classmate at a school pep rally. The prosecution’s whole case was full of holes. There was no weapon, no motive, and the only witnesses’ stories had changed twice. The witnesses, two friends’ of the victim, had said Jason cut Brad accidentally. Then, turned around the next day and said Jason had stabbed Brad in a fight. The rumors were flying around Rutherford. The principal had of course, expelled Jason. He wouldn’t be returning to Rutherford anytime soon. Bertie had to find some way to get Jason into school, just as soon as she got him out of jail.
